Women’s Comprehensive Self Defense and Safety Program

The Women’s Program is a comprehensive, activity-based self defense program for women that includes awareness, risk-reduction, assertiveness, passive verbal defense, personal safety skills, verbalization and self defense skills. It is meant to provide OPTIONS in the critical moments in which your personal space has been violated. It also aims to prevent assault against females and build confidence in their ability to stay safe.

This dynamic program allows the student to learn skill sets with a hands-on approach. Skills are demonstrated and explained, practiced through repetition with and without padded targets and are reinforced with physical simulation practice. Simulation practice means students use skills they have learned against a padded attacker with full force. This helps them realize their physical power and also reinforces their need to verbalize initially and throughout the exercise. Students are not left alone in any of these exercises and are coached through each step which provides a supportive environment for all women including those that have survived assault.

The Women’s Program runs for 10 hours over a 4 day period and is not larger than 15 women in size. There is also an option for a weekend session, 10 hours spread over the course of two days. Enrollment for the weekend session is also limited to 15 women. This allows personal attention for all students and gives the best learning environment possible. The program starts with short discussion and definition and moves into verbalization and boundary setting activities. The class will progress to physical skill sets and assessment of danger and will move into ground work and preparation for the final day of simulation practice.
